Rules and Regulations:

  1. Each driver is required to fill out an entry form and provide their own combine, prepared in accordance with the rules and safety requirements of the event.
  2. Derby officials may accept or reject any or all entries.
  3. All combines must be inspected and approved by derby officials.
  4. No radio communication with driver during derby.
  5. No alcohol is allowed in the pit area; subject to disqualification.
  6. No ganging up on a combine or group of combines; judges will disqualify upon their discretion.
  7. The decision of the judge and the derby officials are final.
  8. Must be 16 to participate; under 18 needs a parent permission waiver signed.

 

Combine Unit:

  1. The combine must be a 1985 model or older and cannot be 4-wheel drive.
  2. Disconnect all drive belts to the threshing unit and grain table; the straw chopper must be removed.
  3. Fuel tank must be mounted inside the grain tank.
  4. All combines must have a seat belt.
  5. All windows and glass must be removed from the unit, including all lights.
  6. Remove unloading auger from the grain truck.
  7. No reinforcement plates or shields can be added to protect wheels and tires.
  8. One or two bars may be added to protect the drive belts.
  9. Must have a bar welded on each side of the cab to protect the driver.
  10. Must have a 2-foot-wide piece of metal or wood in front of the cab to protect driver’s feet.
  11. No additional weight is to be added to the unit.
  12. Tires are to be stock and nothing but air is to be used to inflate them.
  13. There will be no concrete allowed to be used on the unit.

 

Header Unit:

  1. A grain table must be used during the derby.  No corn head and no heads longer that 15 feet.
  2. Weld the head to the combine.  If the head is removed during the derby then you will be disqualified,
  3. Remove reel, sickle bar, guards and floating cutter bar.
  4. Head must be no lower than 15 inches or higher than 30 inches from the bottom of the head to the ground.
  5. There can be no lift action on the header from the cab; head should be welded or fastened so it can not move up or down.
